KACRAN applauds Tinubu’s vision for livestock sector
The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has publicly voiced strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent actions to reform the nation’s livestock sector.
The association commends the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Livestock Development and a Presidential Livestock Reforms Committee, which they have long advocated for as a crucial step toward revitalising the industry.
In a press release signed by Hon. Khalil Mohd Bello, the National President of KACRAN, the association praised the appointments of Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha as the Minister of Livestock Development and Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega as the National Adviser on Livestock Development and Co-Chairman of the Presidential Livestock Reforms Committee.
The statement notes that Minister Maiha’s experience as a practicing livestock farmer brings invaluable, firsthand knowledge to the ministry, while Professor Jega’s strategic vision has been instrumental in designing the new ministry and coordinating efforts with state governors.

KACRAN observed with satisfaction the immediate and impactful work of both leaders, which has included a successful Pasture Planting Day on August 12, 2025, held at the Kawu Grazing Reserve in Abuja.
The event, in collaboration with Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition Limited, promoted sustainable livestock practices through demonstrations and the distribution of planting materials.
The ministry also coordinated a “colorful World Milk Day program in Abuja,” showcasing local and international products and highlighting the potential for Nigeria to reduce its reliance on imported milk and dairy products.

The association believes these appointments are a “blessing to the livestock sector and the country as a whole,” with both leaders demonstrating an “unwavering commitment to fulfilling President Tinubu’s vision for a robust and self-sufficient livestock industry.”
While acknowledging the significant progress, KACRAN has appealed to President Tinubu to provide the new ministry and committee with the necessary financial, administrative, and moral support to “fully actualise the President’s vision for a thriving livestock industry and its associated value chains.”
