Yobe law students seek partnership, guidance during courtesy visit to Neptune Prime
In a bid to foster stronger media partnerships and enhance student development, the President of the Yobe State Law Students Association at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Abubakar Yau Yelwa, led a courtesy visit to the headquarters of Neptune Prime in Abuja on Monday, July 28, 2025.
Speaking during the visit, Yelwa explained that the purpose was twofold: to seek mentorship and guidance, as well as explore possible sponsorship opportunities for the association’s academic and social programmes.
“We recently held an orientation for newly admitted students and hosted a successful iftar programme. We believe strategic collaborations like this will help us do even more,” he said.
Welcoming the delegation, the Publisher and CEO of Neptune Prime, Dr. Hassan Gimba, anipr, expressed appreciation for the visit and reiterated the media outlet’s commitment to supporting educational advancement.

“We value education, we respect students, and we are always willing to support efforts that promote learning and leadership,” Dr. Gimba said.
He further lamented the declining reading and writing culture among students in the digital age.
“Today, many students simply copy and paste from Google when given assignments. It’s unfortunate. We want to revive critical thinking and original writing among young Nigerians,” he added.
To that end, Dr. Gimba announced an exciting opportunity for law students at ABU: the appointment of two interns, one male and one female, who will serve as campus correspondents for Neptune Prime. The selected students will receive writing mentorship, learn journalistic skills, and receive stipends to support their work.
In response, President Yelwa expressed heartfelt gratitude to Neptune Prime for the warm reception and generous gesture, pledging the association’s commitment to making the partnership impactful.
The visit marks a promising collaboration aimed at nurturing future legal minds with a strong sense of social responsibility and media literacy.
