Woman mistaken for kidnapper killed in Kwara

A woman mistaken for a kidnapper was reported killed by an irate mob at the popular Ipata market in Ilorin East local government area of Kwara state .
The event happened on Thursday morning when the woman, who was later discovered to be a destitute, was seen wandering around the community.
Confirming the incident the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, in a statement, described it as unfortunate.

lt explains that upon swift mobilization, Police patrol teams raced to the scene, rescued the victim and rushed her to the General Hospital, Ilorin, for urgent medical attention.
It says regrettably, the attending doctor confirmed her dead as a result of injuries sustained.
The statement says her remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary, while discreet investigation has commenced.
It adds that the command strongly condemns the act of jungle justice, which not only undermines the rule of law but also poses grave danger to innocent lives.
