Veteran Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze dies after battle with cancer

Veteran Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze has passed away after a protracted battle with prostate cancer.

His death was confirmed by movie producer Stanley Ajemba Chibueze, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, on Saturday, July 19.

Stanley Ontop said he received the news of the veteran’s passing from his family on Friday, July 18.

“Good afternoon everyone, it’s another sad period as we just received news from Tom Njemanze family that he has succumbed to his ailment and passed on yesterday.

May his soul RIP. It’s well. We tried to save him but God knows the best. Nollywood loses another legend,” Stanley wrote, sharing a picture of the ailing actor on his sickbed.

Njemanze, who had been bedridden for some time, was thought by many to be improving until news of his death broke.

Rising to prominence in the 1990s, Njemanze earned acclaim for his powerful performances in Nollywood classics such as Tokunboh, Pounds and Dollars, Atosa, Issakaba, Osuofia in London, Brain Box, and Igbotic Love.

Renowned for his expressive delivery and commanding screen presence, the late actor remains a cherished figure in Nigerian cinematic history, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.
