William Abdallah (Chief Pilot)
Promise Kept
The 31-year-old Tanzanian-born William Abdallah is an energetic and passionate pilot with Umza Aviation Services, notable for bringing both experience and enthusiasm to every flight. He is a Captain as well as the Airline’s Chief Pilot and has under his belt over 6,000 flight hours and total PIC hours of over 3,700.
Abdallah has a solid background in multi-crew coordination, sharp attention to detail, and outstanding commitment to keeping the aircraft, crew, and passengers safe.

A proud Tanzanian from Kigoma, who rose from a humble background with a childhood fascination for aeroplanes and a big dream of one day becoming a pilot, has come of age, conveying passengers through the clouds to various destinations.
Even when many thought it was impossible, Abdallah stayed strong, determined, and hardworking, not only reaching his own dreams but also opening doors of opportunity for others.
His educational journey spanned across Tanzania and Kenya, weaving a vibrant tapestry of learning. After finishing secondary school, he dove into an exhilarating flight operations course, marking the beginning of a thrilling career in aviation.
Abdallah is a dedicated professional who has worked in various roles all over the world, amassing incredible experience in the aviation industry.
He brought this priceless expertise to Nigeria in 2024 when he joined the fantastic team at Umza Air.
He was part of the team from the early stages of the airline’s certification process with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, witnessing its growth from the ground up. He started his journey as a Line Captain, grew into a respected Training Captain, and rose to the role of Chief Pilot at Umza Air, earning admiration for his skills, leadership, and dedication.
His education and experience have given him a confidence found only in those whose souls have reached an agreement and partnership with the sublime.
On a particular flight to Kano last month, he told his passengers, “There would be turbulence on the way, but I promise to give you a smooth ride and land you smoothly. At the end of it all, I will ask you if I have kept my promise.”
He kept his promise, earning him the nickname “Promise Kept” from Neptune Prime.
Timothy Ayoola (First [Senior] Officer)
Timothy Ayoola, the dynamic Pilot of Umza, is a true team player with exceptional people skills and strong leadership abilities.
Known for his delightful calm under pressure, he consistently guides his team to success while staying focused, driven, and goal-oriented.
Ayoola holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the University of London, United Kingdom. He attended flight training at the Flight Safety International Farnborough Learning Centre, Eagle1 Flight Academy, Rand Airport, Rand, Gauteng, South Africa.
Abdullahi Lawan Usman (Purser)
Among the formidable and visionary team of Umza Aviation Services Limited shines Abdullahi Lawan Usman, a distinguished, well-educated and multifaceted professional whose exceptional expertise bridges the worlds of architecture and aviation.
Born and raised in Kano State, Lawan pursued his passion for architecture and earned a PRE-ND, ND, and HND from Kano State Polytechnic, followed by a BSc and MSc in Architecture from Bayero University Kano.
He is an ICAO-certified instructor and a seasoned aviator with over 10 years of experience as a Cabin Purser and Line Trainer with Umza Air.
He holds impeccable type ratings on five aircraft, including the B737, B747, A340-600, EMB-145, and DCHQ400.
In his illustrious career journey, Lawan has cultivated a remarkable blend of visionary skills, seamlessly merging his deep knowledge of architecture and aviation to attain exceptional excellence, guided by an unwavering dedication to safety and inspirational leadership.
Lani Iyalla (Cabin Crew Member)
Lani Iyalla, a one-time staff member of BusinessDay newspaper, is a delicate beauty in the sky who came from a close-knit family of five, is a proud daughter of Rivers State with a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, and a Master’s degree in Cell Biology and Genetics from Ekiti State University, who has flourished as a dedicated and highly accomplished flight attendant with Umza Aviation Services.
Renowned for her poise and professionalism, Ms. Iyalla continues to distinguish herself through her profound commitment to passenger safety and her exceptional delivery of world-class in-flight service.
