Trump slams Zelensky, warns he won’t have a country left

On Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him a “dictator without elections” and warning that Zelensky “better move fast” or risk losing his country.

Trump’s comments came after Zelensky accused Trump of being trapped in a “disinformation bubble” created by Russia. During a press conference, Zelensky refuted Trump’s claim that most of Ukraine’s support came from the US, asserting that “the truth is somewhere else,” though he still expressed gratitude for American aid. He also dismissed Trump’s claim that the US had provided Ukraine $500 billion.

On Truth Social, Trump posted: “Think of it – a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelensky, talked the United States into spending $350 billion to enter a war that couldn’t be won, never needed to start, and which Zelensky, without the US and ‘TRUMP,’ will never be able to end.”

Trump further argued that the US had contributed far more to Ukraine than Europe, saying, “The United States has spent $200 billion more than Europe, and Europe’s money is guaranteed, while the US will get nothing back.” He criticized President Joe Biden for not demanding Europe contribute more, stating that the war was far more critical for Europe than the US, which is separated by a vast ocean.

Trump also claimed that Zelensky had acknowledged that half of the US aid sent to Ukraine was “missing” and accused him of refusing to hold elections. He described Zelensky as “very low in Ukrainian polls” and suggested the only thing he was good at was manipulating Biden. Trump added, “He is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle.’”

Labeling Zelensky a “Dictator without Elections,” Trump warned that Ukraine’s future was at stake. He said, “Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.” He also claimed that only he and his administration could successfully negotiate an end to the war with Russia, adding, “Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring peace, and Zelensky probably wants to keep the ‘gravy train’ going.”

Trump concluded by saying, “I love Ukraine, but Zelensky has done a terrible job. His country is shattered, and millions have unnecessarily died – and so it continues…”
