Tosin Adarabioyo undecided on Super Eagles switch
Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo says he has not made a final decision on whether he will represent Nigeria internationally, despite widespread speculation he’s ready to join the Super Eagles.
The 26-year-old, born in Manchester to Nigerian parents, has represented England at various youth levels but has never been capped by the senior team. This leaves the door open for him to switch his allegiance to Nigeria, the country of his heritage.
Rumors have been circulating that Adarabioyo is leaning toward Nigeria, particularly after his first trip to the country in July 2025. This visit was widely seen as a symbolic step toward joining the Super Eagles, who are preparing for a new era under head coach Chelle.

However, in a recent media interview, Adarabioyo confirmed a decision has not yet been made. “It’s something I still think about,” he said when asked about a potential switch. “We will see in the near future, hopefully, and I’ll start to make a decision.”
He added, “It’s just something that has obviously been a topic for many years now since I’ve become a professional footballer. But again, like I said, we’ll see.”
Sources close to the player suggest that while no official confirmation has been made, the possibility of him choosing Nigeria is strong. He would join a growing list of England-born players of Nigerian descent, including Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, and Joe Aribo.
The Super Eagles are currently rebuilding and looking to reinforce their defense for upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and 2025 AFCON qualifiers. Even if Adarabioyo makes a decision soon, he may not be available for the September international window, as the paperwork required by FIFA to complete the switch could take several weeks.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly optimistic about the defender’s potential switch and is monitoring the situation.
