Thai authorities arrest 2 Nigerians for alleged cocaine smuggling
Story from Hamzat Ibrahim
Two Nigerians, whose identities have not been disclosed, have been arrested in Thailand for allegedly smuggling cocaine into the country, the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB).
The suspects were apprehended at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok after customs officers discovered suspicious packages in their luggage during routine security checks.
A subsequent search revealed that the individuals had ingested multiple pellets containing cocaine, a common method used by drug couriers.
Officials said the total weight of the seized cocaine was approximately 1.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of 6 million baht ($165,000). The suspects reportedly travelled from Brazil, a known transit hub for international drug trafficking.

“The arrest is part of our ongoing efforts to crack down on drug smuggling networks operating across borders,” said NSB commander Pol Lt Gen Samran Nuanma. “We are working closely with international law enforcement agencies to identify and dismantle these criminal organisations.”
The two Nigerians face serious charges under Thailand’s strict anti-narcotics laws, which could result in life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted. They are currently being held in custody as investigations continue.
