Sudan stun Nigeria 4-0, send Super Eagles packing in CHAN 2024

Sudan pulled off a stunning 4-0 victory over Nigeria in the CHAN PAMOJA 2024, sending the Super Eagles out of the tournament with a game to spare.

The match, played in Zanzibar, saw Sudan’s Abdel Raouf Yagoub score twice after the break, adding to an early own goal from Leonard Ngenge and a penalty from Walieldin Khdir.

Sudan’s disciplined display left Nigeria struggling to cope, with the Super Eagles failing to register a single point from two matches.

Sudan now top Group D with four points, while Nigeria are bottom with zero points and are mathematically eliminated from the tournament.

Sudan’s coach, Kwesi Appiah, will be thrilled with his team’s performance, which mirrored his pre-match plan perfectly. Nigeria’s coach, Eric Chelle, will have questions to answer about his team’s structure, selection, and execution at the tournament level.

Sudan faced Senegal in a crucial Group D decider, where a draw could be enough to secure qualification depending on Congo’s result.
