Student leaders pay courtesy visit to Neptune Prime CEO, endorse Hon. Kashim Musa Tumsah
The newly elected Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), Comrade Isah Yusuf, popularly known as “Eloquent”, has led a high-level delegation to the residence of Dr Hassan Gimba, anipr, Chief Executive Officer of Neptune Prime, in a strategic courtesy visit aimed at fostering mentorship.
The delegation, headed by NANCES National President Comrade Kur Isaac Ushahemb alongside the newly elected Senate President, included several prominent figures in student leadership and youth advocacy.
The delegation also included some distinguished student representatives and youth advocates, in persons of Amb. Sani Fidelis Ojonugwa, Pioneer, NANCES Senate President/2025 Inauguration Chairman; Amb. Mahmud Abubakar, Convener, Concerned Nigerian Youth for Good Governance (CNYGG); Comrade Badiru Abdulakeem Babatunde, Former Acting President of NANCES; and Comrade Boluwaji Ganiyu Fatai, Former Secretary, 2025 Convention Planning Committee.
The primary purpose of the visit was to seek fatherly advice and mentorship from Dr Gimba, whom the student leaders recognise as a father figure and guide to young leaders across Nigeria.
The delegation also aimed to secure support for Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsah, MFR, demonstrating their commitment to building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.
In a significant development during the visit, the student leaders formally endorsed Barrister Tumsah, MFR, citing his exceptional support for students. The endorsement comes following Tumsah’s recent educational initiatives, including the award of ₦2.9 million to 29 students who scored 300 marks and above in the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations across Yobe State.
Additionally, Tumsah provided ₦200,000 to each SUG President across Yobe State, demonstrating his commitment to supporting student leadership and educational development.

In a display of unity among student leaders, the Student Union Government (SUG) President of the College of Administration, Management and Technology (CAMTECH) Potiskum, Comrade Ali Ya’u Haruna, also participated in the courtesy visit. Comrade Haruna, recognised as a human rights activist, was accompanied by his team members Al-ameen Ahmed Sardauna and Ibrahim Babate Ibrahim.
Haruna expressed gratitude to Barrister Tumsah for his support, revealing that he used the ₦200,000 received to purchase 15 podiums for 15 classes his institution, directly benefiting the student body.
Dr Hassan Gimba warmly received both delegations and congratulated Comrade Isah Yusuf on his election as Senate President.
The Neptune Prime CEO provided valuable counsel, emphasising inclusive leadership principles.
“Be good and fair to all students,” Dr Gimba advised, highlighting the importance of equitable representation and service delivery in student leadership.
He stressed the significance of servant leadership, encouraging the young leaders to prioritise the welfare of their constituents, avoid corruption, and maintain high ethical standards.
Speaking further, he expressed delight at the diversity of the delegation: “I feel honoured. It’s not just you people from my state Yobe, but you have brought along some people from other states, not only in the North but even from the South, as we have some from Ekiti here. It also shows that you are becoming more Nigerian rather than being secluded. You’re expanding and networking. And these types of things make Nigeria united and developed.”
Dr Gimba reminded the students that their leadership journey mirrors Nigeria’s democratic process: “You’re now practising what’s called democratic leadership. You go into elections, identify offices you want to run for, and then solicit support. This will come around to help you. It’s a small step now, but it will expand and help you become a governor or senator. By the time you’re on a bigger stage, these experiences will serve as lessons.”

However, he cautioned against the dangers of corruption and greed in leadership. “Most of our youth see what the older generation is doing and want to copy them. Many people seek for office because they feel they can make money. This is what’s happening in Nigeria and what we need to change. Given Nigeria’s current trajectory, you need to start fighting corruption now. You must be self-disciplined. Go to offices not for the designer clothes but for service to humanity.”

In his closing words, he reminded the student leaders to embrace humility and spirituality in their service: “You should never take yourself to where God has not taken you. Allow yourself to be led deservedly by God. When you go back to school, don’t look down on the students. Always be humble so that God will elevate you.”
This joint courtesy visit represents a significant milestone in student leadership development, bringing together leaders from different student bodies and demonstrating growing unity among Nigerian student leaders. The meeting served as a vital bridge between student leadership and corporate Nigeria, fostering dialogue and potential collaboration in educational development.
The visit underscores continued efforts by student leaders to build meaningful relationships with established figures in Nigerian society, seeking guidance and support as they navigate their governance responsibilities.
The inclusion of human rights advocacy through Comrade Haruna’s participation highlights the multifaceted nature of modern student leadership, extending beyond traditional academic concerns to encompass broader social justice issues.
The convergence of these different student organisations demonstrates their collective commitment to learning from experienced leaders while working to advance student interests across various tertiary institutions in Nigeria, setting a precedent for collaborative leadership development in the country’s educational sector.
