Shettima inaugurates PreCEFI, appoints High Chief Temitope Fawehinmi, others as ambassadors

Vice President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to driving economic growth and ensuring financial inclusion for all Nigerians.
Traditional leaders such as HRH Dr. Haliru Yahaya Ndanusa, Emir of Shonga, Kwara State, and High Chief Temitope Fawehinmi, Gbajeniyi of Egbaland, Ogun State, have been appointed as Economic and Financial Inclusion Ambassadors.
The committee was inaugurated on February 10, 2025 to support its vital role in providing strategic guidance and oversight for the Aso Accord, a key initiative designed to bridge financial gaps, drive inclusive economic reforms, and create sustainable opportunities for Nigerians across all sectors.
The committee has two key subcommittees: the Governance Committee (GovCo), which the vice president chairs, supported by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, as deputy; and the Technical Committee (TechCo), headed by Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General of NITDA, with Mr. Philip Ikeazor, Deputy Governor of Financial System Stability at the CBN, as vice chairman.
The Governance Committee shall, among other tasks, oversee the strategic direction of financial inclusion initiatives, ensuring they align with national development goals, while the Technical Committee will focus on translating these strategies into actionable programmes
The Implementation Secretariat, headed by Dr. Nurudeen Abubakar Zauro, Technical Advisor to the President of Economic and Financial Inclusion, serves as the engine room of the committee. This team ensures smooth coordination between GovCo and TechCo, liaises with key agencies, and works tirelessly to translate all financial inclusion agenda into measurable results.
Announcing the development via his Facebook page, Shettima said, “To strengthen the initiative, we have brought in respected experts as Technical and Research Advisors, including Prof. Olayinka David-West, Dean/CEO of Lagos Business School (LBS), and Prof. Nasir Abdullahi of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
“In addition, traditional leaders such as HRH Dr. Haliru Yahaya Ndanusa, Emir of Shonga, Kwara State, and High Chief Temitope Fawehinmi, Gbajeniyi of Egbaland, Ogun State, have been appointed as Economic and Financial Inclusion Ambassadors, further reinforcing the grassroots reach of this initiative.
