Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, representing Yobe South Senatorial District, has distributed rice and other food items, as well as palliatives, to members of his constituency, which comprises 44 wards across three local government areas: Potiskum, Fika, and Fune.

The distribution exercise, which kicked off on Monday at the Bolewa A. area of Potiskum Local Government, is part of the senator’s efforts to cushion the economic challenges faced by the people, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Alhaji Yusuf Zaki, an aide to Senator Bomai, who declared the distribution open, emphasized the senator’s commitment to supporting his constituents.

Zaki said, “This palliative distribution is a reflection of Senator Bomai’s dedication to the welfare of the people of Yobe South.

“We are ensuring that the exercise cuts across all 44 wards in the three local government areas of Potiskum, Fika, and Fune. We are here at Bolewa A. to distribute rice and other essential food items to some of the beneficiaries, but this is just the beginning. Our goal is to reach every corner of Yobe South to ensure that no one is left behind.”

Zaki further elaborated on the senator’s broader initiatives to empower the youth and reduce unemployment in the region.

“In addition to the rice and other food items, we are also providing capital for young people to start their own businesses. So far, we have distributed substantial business capital to youths in Yobe South.

“This is part of our ongoing efforts to tackle youth unemployment and create sustainable livelihoods. We will continue to roll out such programmes to ensure that unemployment is drastically reduced in our senatorial district.”

The distribution exercise has been widely applauded by beneficiaries and community leaders alike.

Ibrahim Muhammad, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude, stating that the initiative was timely and impactful.

“This distribution has come at the right time, especially during Ramadan when many vulnerable families are struggling to make ends meet. The rice and other food items, as well as the support, will go a long way in alleviating our hardships and ensuring that we receive the help we need,” he said.

The event also witnessed the presence of community leaders and youth leaders, who commended Senator Bomai for his efforts in bringing succour to the people.

Neptune Prime observed that the distribution exercise was carried out, with community leaders involved in the process, while the palliatives, including rice and other essential items, were distributed to various members of the community.
