Private schools celebrate ‘NAPPS DAY’ in Yobe
Monday, 13th October 2025, marked the annual Private Schools Day in Nigeria, which is known as ‘National Association of Proprietors of Private School (NAPPS). In Potiskum, Yobe State, the celebration brought together over 46 private schools at a colourful event held at St. Peter’s Academy and College.
The event began around 10:00 a.m. and lasted until 1:00 p.m., featuring cultural displays and various activities. More than 20 schools performed different traditional dances and wore cultural attire representing ethnic groups such as Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa.
Schools also engaged in educational presentations delivered in both English and Arabic, while others showcased skill acquisition projects by students, including fan-making, traditional pottery, and tailoring.

In his address, the Chairman of Private Schools in Potiskum, Malam Muhammad Sambo Adamu, highlighted the progress and achievements recorded under his two-year leadership. He expressed gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni for his support to private schools in the state, and to both the Yobe State Ministry of Education and the Potiskum Local Government Education Authority for their consistent cooperation.
The event was attended by representatives from the State Ministry of Education, including Hajiya Fatima, as well as delegates from the Police, DSS, NSCDC, and several private school proprietors.
The event was concluded with a closing remark and prayer by the host, Venerable Thomas Y. Sankwi, Proprietor of St. Peter’s Academy and College.
