President Tinubu signs 4 tax reform bills into law

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law four major tax reform bills aimed at overhauling Nigeria’s fiscal framework and strengthening the country’s revenue generation systems.

The brief but historic signing ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday and was attended by key government officials, including the leadership of the National Assembly, selected legislators, state governors, ministers, and presidential aides.

The four bills—Nigeria Tax Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill—were recently passed by the National Assembly following extensive consultations with stakeholders and interest groups across the country.

According to the Presidency, the enactment of the new tax laws is expected to “significantly transform tax administration in the country, leading to increased revenue generation, improved business environment, and a boost in both domestic and foreign investments.”

The move marks another key step in the implementation of President Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, as his administration works to reposition Nigeria’s fiscal policy landscape and attract more private sector participation.
