Police launch investigation as newborn baby mysteriously disappears from hospital
A newborn baby has mysteriously vanished from the Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, less than 24 hours after birth, sparking chaos and outrage.
The disappearance was discovered in the early hours of Monday during a routine check by health workers. The incident caused panic among staff, patients, and the baby’s family.
In response to the incident, the Ekiti State Police have arrested four people for questioning, including the baby’s mother, a security guard, and two hospital staff members. The hospital has not yet issued an official statement.

Ekiti State Police spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrests and stated that the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) is leading a full-scale investigation. Abutu added,
“The suspects are providing useful information. We are committed to finding the missing baby.”
The event has heightened public concern regarding security and accountability in public health facilities across Nigeria.
