Police launch investigation as family of 4 found dead
Story by Susan Mbamah
A family of four was found dead in their home in Chatta village, Borno State, sparking a police investigation. The deceased were identified as Yakubu Samanja, his wife Esther Yakubu, and their two children, Amos and Maryamu Yakubu.
The tragic discovery was made on Tuesday morning by a relative, Ibrahim Samanja, who grew concerned when the home was unusually silent.
“I came around 7 a.m. and knocked several times, but no one answered,” he said. “I became worried and eventually had to force the door open. That was when I saw their lifeless bodies lying inside the room.”

Following the discovery, police and medical personnel arrived at the scene, where they confirmed the deaths. The bodies were subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Marama and placed in the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The community is in shock, as residents say the family showed no signs of illness or distress before the incident.
While preliminary checks at the scene revealed no visible signs of violence, residents suspect the deaths may have been caused by poisoning or carbon monoxide inhalation from a generator.
