Police bust ₦500m visa scam, arrest suspects
Over 100 Nigerians have fallen victim to a massive visa scam, losing more than ₦500 million in their quest for Canadian and Australian work visas.
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended four suspects in connection with the scam. According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects, aged 23-36, were arrested by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) after the case was transferred from the Ago Okota Division.
The police spokesperson revealed that preliminary investigations showed the suspects were staff members of an educational consultancy in Ago Okota.

Hundeyin said, “Further investigations showed that the syndicate includes additional accomplices, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them and bring them to justice upon conclusion of the investigation.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, has cautioned the public to verify the authenticity of travel and recruitment agencies before engaging in any visa-related transactions. Hundeyin reiterated this warning, emphasising the need for caution when dealing with such agencies.
