Police arrest site engineer over collapsed building

The Abia State Government has confirmed that three people were injured when an unfinished three-story building collapsed in Umuahia, the state capital.

According to the Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, the building’s owner, identified as Chief Ikechi Emenike, and the site engineer are under scrutiny.

The site engineer has been arrested by the police and is assisting with investigations. Kanu made this known while addressing journalists after the Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.

The Commissioner assured that the injured victims received prompt medical attention, with the Health Commissioner and his team administering first aid before transferring them to the hospital for further treatment.
