Police in Osun State have arrested eight people in connection with the brutal attack on a 16-year-old boy in Ikire, where his scrotum was removed.

The state police command confirmed the arrests on Monday, stating the suspects would be prosecuted for the July 26 assault.

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said three of the suspects from Apomu were working on farmland in the Arademi area of Ikire when two of them allegedly lured the teenager into a nearby bush.

There, they cut open his abdomen in what appeared to be an attempt to harvest organs.

However, they fled with only his scrotum after the boy raised the alarm. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment and later transferred to University College Hospital in Ibadan. Ojelabi noted the arrests were the result of a swift investigation.
