Police arrest 7 alleged drug barons, dozens of other suspects
The Jigawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of seven suspected drug barons and numerous other suspects in a series of operations conducted across the state.
In a statement issued Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, the arrests were made between July 27 and August 1, 2025. The operations, which were intelligence-driven, led to the recovery of significant quantities of illicit drugs, vandalized property, and stolen vehicles.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised his officers for their efforts, stating, “We will continue to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all.”
The police reported several specific arrests:
In Birnin Kudu, a suspected vandal was caught with government cable wires.

In Kazaure, three suspected burglars were arrested with stolen Android phones.In Gujungu village, a stolen motorcycle was recovered, and one suspect, Jibrin Muhammad, is under investigation.
In Dutse, seven suspected drug dealers and addicts were arrested with large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit substances.
In Ringim, a suspected drug baron was arrested with sizable quantities of Indian hemp and other banned substances and will be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
In Hadejia, two more suspected drug dealers were arrested with a significant quantity of illicit substances and will also be handed over to the NDLEA.
In Taura LGA, two suspected tricycle thieves, Nazifi Ahmed and Salma Haruna, were arrested, and a stolen tricycle was recovered.
In Kiyawa, five suspects were apprehended with illicit drugs, including D5 and Exol tablets.
The police command urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies. The CP concluded with a warning to criminals, saying, “We will not relent in our efforts to rid the state of crime and ensure a safer environment for all.”
