Police arrest 3, including landlord over murder of 2 varsity students

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a landlord and two others in connection with the kidnapping and murder of two students from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

According to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adebowale Lawal, the victims were Abah John Friday, 25, and his friend, Okah Andrel Eloho, 19. The commissioner disclosed this during a press briefing in Akure on Wednesday, highlighting recent achievements of the command.

Lawal explained that the arrests were made following a petition submitted by a law firm, G.O. Omoedu & Co., on behalf of Mr. Emmanuel Peter, the brother of one of the victims. The petition reported the abduction of Peter’s brother, Friday, and his friend, Eloho, who went missing on June 20, 2025.

The police launched an investigation, and through forensic tracking, they recovered an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the victims from Abdul Mohammed Mubarak, 38, in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos. Femi allegedly engaged Michael and another accomplice, “Kola,” who is currently at large, to carry out the crime.

Investigations revealed that ₦800,000 was transferred from one of the victims’ accounts during their captivity. Michael also admitted to raping the female victim and executing both victims to prevent them from exposing him.
