PDP zones 2027 presidential ticket to south
Story by Susan Mbamah
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election will be zoned to the southern part of the country.
This decision means that only PDP members from the South are eligible to contest for the party’s presidential nomination.
The resolution was made during the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday.
PDP leaders stated that the zoning arrangement is intended to promote unity and fairness within the party in preparation for the 2027 general election.

A statement from the party leadership read, “The NEC has resolved that the presidential ticket of our great party for the 2027 general election is hereby zoned to the South.”
The move is expected to influence the political landscape as prominent figures from the South prepare to compete for the party’s ticket in a bid to challenge the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC).
