Nigerian delegation led by Hon. Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Gaidam, visits UAC facility in Czech Republic

On thursday, 5th February 2025, a high-profile delegation from Nigeria, led by the Honorable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, paid a strategic visit to the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAC) facility in the Czech Republic.
The visit was aimed at exploring advanced drone technologies that could significantly enhance Nigeria’s surveillance and security operations.
The delegation consisted of key government officials, security experts, and technical advisors who sought to assess the potential integration of cutting-edge UAV technology into Nigeria’s policing and national security framework.
The UAC facility is a globally recognized manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), renowned for its state-of-the-art research, design, and production of drones for both civilian and military applications. As a leader in UAV technology, UAC specializes in high-performance drones designed for intelligence gathering, border surveillance, search and rescue operations, and tactical support for law enforcement agencies.
During the factory tour, the Nigerian delegation was given an in-depth look at the advanced production processes, from conceptual design to final assembly.
They were introduced to various categories of drones, including fixed-wing surveillance UAVs, multi-rotor tactical drones, and long-endurance reconnaissance drones.
The delegation also observed rigorous quality control measures, ensuring that each unit meets international standards of efficiency, durability, and operational effectiveness.
Key Highlights of the Visit among others includes: Technological demonstrations, and discussions on Security Applications among others.
The delegation engaged in discussions with UAC experts on the potential applications of drone technology in Nigeria’s security landscape. This is aimed at enhancing police surveillance operations in urban and remote areas, improving border security through real-time monitoring, utilizing drones for counter-terrorism operations and deploying UAVs for search and rescue missions during emergencies.
One of the major outcomes of the visit was the exploration of potential collaboration between the Nigerian government and UAC. Discussions focused on technology transfer, local assembly of drones in Nigeria, and capacity-building programs for Nigerian security personnel.
The delegation emphasized the need for Nigeria to develop indigenous expertise in UAV operations, maintenance, and software development to sustain long-term benefits from the partnership.
The visit to the UAC facility marked a significant step in Nigeria’s efforts to modernize its security apparatus through advanced aerial surveillance technology. Senator Ibrahim Gaidam reiterated the committment of President Tinubu led government to adopting innovative solutions to address the country’s security challenges.
Moving forward, the Ministry of Police Affairs will work closely with other relevant agencies to evaluate the feasibility of acquiring and deploying UAC drones for national security purposes. Further discussions and negotiations are expected to take place in the coming months to formalize agreements and define the roadmap for implementation.
