Man arrested for flogging wife to death over farm dispute

A man in Efon Alaaye has been arrested after allegedly beating his wife, Modupe Alasin, to death.
The brutal assault reportedly followed a dispute over her lateness to the farm.

According to an unnamed witness, Modupe was repeatedly flogged by her husband and cried out for mercy.
Shortly after the beating, the husband allegedly told her to fetch water from a nearby stream.
However, she collapsed and died by the stream, reportedly from exhaustion and the injuries she had sustained.

The Public Relations Officer for the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, has confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is in police custody while an investigation is underway.
