Let your husband defend himself, Natasha tells Akpabio’s wife

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has urged Mrs. Unoma Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to refrain from intervening in the sexual harassment allegations against her husband, advising that he defend himself personally.

The dispute between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio escalated following an incident in the Senate, where she refused to sit in a designated seat, citing Order 10 of the Senate Standing Rules.

The controversy deepened when she alleged on Arise News that Akpabio had blocked her motions, intimidated her, and harassed her after she rejected his advances.

In response, Mrs. Akpabio held a press conference dismissing the allegations, describing them as baseless and insisting on a longstanding cordial relationship between their families.

However, in a letter dated March 1, 2025, and addressed to Mrs. Akpabio through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Akpoti-Uduaghan urged her to refrain from interfering.

The letter, titled “Stay Away from Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sexual Harassment and Intimidation Allegation Against Sen. President Godswill Akpabio; To Safeguard Your Sanity and That of Your Family,” emphasized that the allegations were personal to the Senate President and that he should be left to address them himself.

“Our Client is not desirous of calling you out into the unfortunate saga concerning her allegations against the Senate President, and wishes that you restrain yourself from delving into the obscene circumstances.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that she had endured persistent harassment from Akpabio but was now compelled to speak out, adding that she had “concrete evidence” to support her claims.

She urged Mrs. Akpabio to step aside from the controversy for the sake of her “sanity and family.”

She reiterated her commitment to defending Nigerian women and upholding family values while maintaining her stance on the allegations.
