Legendary wrestler, Hulk Hogan, passes away at 71
Story from Jameel Lawan Yakasai
The wrestling world is mourning the loss of Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, who has passed away at the age of 71. According to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Hogan died on Thursday.
Reports indicate that Hogan suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida, and was pronounced dead at Morton Plant Hospital.
Hogan was a household name in the 1980s and 1990s, known for his iconic mustache and larger-than-life personality. He was instrumental in popularising professional wrestling and helped WWE achieve global recognition.
The wrestling legend had a storied career, with notable stints in WWE and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He was a 12-time world champion and headlined some of the biggest events in wrestling history.

Hogan’s legacy extends beyond wrestling, with appearances in movies, television shows, and video games. However, his career was also marred by controversy, including a scandal in 2015 where he was caught on tape making racial slurs.
WWE has extended its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans. The company said in a statement, “WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.”
Hogan’s death comes just a month before the first event of his new wrestling company, Real American Freestyle, which aims to promote traditional wrestling.
