Kidnapper: We held ex-AIG’s wife in bush behind her home

Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, was held captive for over a week in a secluded area near her residence in Arepo, Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State.

According to confessions from her abductors, the two suspects—27-year-old Agbojule Smart and 30-year-old Keleke Michael—revealed that Mrs. Odumosu was kept in a dense bush area, surrounded by palm trees behind her home, where they believed no one would find her.

“We hid her behind her house, where there are many palm trees. If someone hides there, you can’t see them,” one of the suspects stated during questioning.

Initially, the gang demanded a ransom of ₦40 million but later reduced it to ₦20 million, which was paid by the victim’s family. The suspects confessed that they each received ₦4.25 million after the ransom was distributed among them.

Armed with three locally-made guns, the gang abducted Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus SUV and dragged her through a swampy area to their hideout.

During their interrogation, the suspects revealed they were hired for the operation by an unidentified man, whose identity remains unknown. “A man gave us the job, but I don’t know his name,” one of them said.

The ordeal came to an end when a police operation led to the death of two gang members. The suspects have been arrested and paraded by the police, while investigations continue to track down other members of the gang and their sponsor.
