Kashim Musa Tumsah rewards 29 Yobe students with ₦2.9 million for academic excellence

Story by Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT), a prominent development activist and philanthropist, has presented ₦2.9 million to 29 exceptional students from Yobe State who excelled and scored above 300 in the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.

During the award ceremony on Saturday, Tumsah emphasised his unwavering commitment to education and grassroots empowerment, stating, “This event highlights the significance of educating every child.”

In his speech, delivered by Hajiya Adama Balla, Tumsah encouraged the recipients, “Let no one convince you that your rightful place is not in the classroom, laboratory, or leadership roles.”

Tumsah expressed gratitude for the support of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, crediting his declaration of a state of emergency in education for creating an environment conducive to progress.

Alhaji Ajiya Maina Kachallah, member of the Yobe State House of Assembly representing Machina Constituency, expressed appreciation to Tumsah on behalf of the parents for his “amazing and wonderful contribution.”

He said this was the first time an individual philanthropist had gifted such a significant amount of ₦2.9 million, providing ₦100,000 per student.

“We deeply appreciate his efforts and hope other philanthropists, well-to-do individuals, and stakeholders within and outside the state will emulate his example. Such generosity motivates students to excel,” Kachallah said.

Two award beneficiaries Bashir Kachalla Ajiya Maina and Maryam Hamisu Ado commended the educational support from Tumsah.
