Story from Jameel Lawan Yakasai
The Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has arrested a driver for allegedly violating traffic laws and damaging flowers planted by the state government along a major road.
The incident occurred on Thursday along Murtala Muhammad Way in Kano metropolis, where the driver reportedly crossed the road from an unauthorized section and drove over the newly planted flowers.
KAROTA spokesperson Abubakar Ibrahim Sharada confirmed the arrest, stating that the driver would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others. Sharada warned motorists against breaking traffic regulations, emphasising that the agency would not tolerate destruction of public assets.

“The government is funding these plants to mitigate climate change and other environmental challenges, so we will not sit back and watch one person destroy efforts meant to benefit thousands,” Sharada said.
