Kano police crack down on vehicle thieves, arrest 2 suspects, recover 3 stolen cars

The Kano State Police Command has achieved a milestone in the arrest of two (2) suspected motor vehicle thieves and recovery of three (3) stolen vehicles in separate incidents reported to the Command. This achievement highlights the commitment of the Command in combating motor vehicle theft and ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Kano State. The details are as follows:
Recovery of Stolen Hyundai Elantra Motor Vehicle: On 18th August, 2025, at about 4:16 pm, a report was received through the Command’s emergency number by a female resident of Badawa Quarters, Kano regarding the theft of her Motor Vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, 2011 Model, ash in color, parked outside the North Field Montessori Academy premises in Nasarawa GRA, Kano State. Following a meticulous investigation and coordinated intelligence tactical operation, the vehicle was traced and recovered in Zaria, Kaduna State, on 23rd August 2025.

Recovery of Stolen Pontiac Vibe Motor Vehicle: On 5th August, 2025, a report of theft of a motor vehicle was received from one Mr. Moses ‘m’ of Sabon Gari Quarters, Kano. The Pontiac Vibe (2006 model, ash-colored) with registration number ABJ 739 JK was reported stolen in front of his residence. Following credible information received, the vehicle was recovered in Adamawa State.
Arrest of Suspects and Recovery of Stolen Siena Bus Motor Vehicle: On 18th August, 2025, information was received from a good Samaritan regarding the theft of a Motor Vehicle, Siena Bus, sky blue in color with registration number GAK 556 from Bauchi State. On receipt of the information, Police patrol teams were placed on red alert.

Prompt action by the Police Patrol Team attached to Wudil Division led to the interception of the vehicle and the arrest of two suspects: Yunusa Muhammad a.k.a Yellow ‘M’, 35 years old, and Abdulwahab Bala ‘m, 23, all of Bauchi State.
The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, and the vehicles will be handed over to their rightful owners.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis commends the diligence and professionalism of the operatives and appreciates the public’s support in reporting suspicious activities.
