Just like Super Falcons, Tinubu honours each D’Tigress with OON, $100,000, house for historic AfroBasket win
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has honoured Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, with the national title of Order of the Niger (OON), in recognition of their remarkable achievement at the 2025 AfroBasket Women’s Championship.
Each player on the team will also receive a cash reward of $100,000 and a flat.

The announcement was made on Monday evening when President Tinubu hosted the victorious team at the State House, days after their historic triumph.
On Sunday, D’Tigress defeated Mali 78-64 in a closely contested final to secure their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title and seventh overall, cementing their dominance on the continent.

Last week, a similar gesture was extended to the Super Falcons, who were also decorated with national honours and rewarded with cash and houses after winning Nigeria’s 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
