Gunmen kidnap APC chairman’s wife, daughter

The wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Kwara State’s Patigi Local Government Area, have been abducted by gunmen.
The attack occurred on Sunday night in the Sakpefu community, where assailants fired shots into the air before taking the two women. The victims were identified as Hajiya Fatima and her daughter, Amina. Witnesses reported that the attackers operated for several minutes without interruption before disappearing with their captives.

This incident follows a recent attack in the Shagbe community, Ifelodun Local Government Area, where gunmen invaded the palace of the Onishagbe.
Locals said the attackers killed some residents and abducted others, operating for hours without any security intervention. Although the monarch was the primary target, he and his family escaped unharmed.
The recent abductions highlight the growing insecurity across Kwara North, where residents have been pleading with authorities for a stronger and faster response to attacks.

While the Kwara State government has stated it is addressing the situation, concerns remain about the persistence of violent crime in rural areas and the slow reaction of security forces.
