Grain prices drop in Potiskum market, Yobe State, residents, traders welcome relief

In what many are describing as a breath of fresh air amid rising living costs, grain prices have dropped significantly this week in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State, offering a rare moment of relief for both traders and residents.

Potiskum Grain Market, one of the busiest agricultural produce hubs in the state, recorded noticeable declines in the cost of staple food items such as maize, millet, sorghum, and beans. This development comes as a welcome change for families who have been struggling to afford the basics of daily nutrition.

According to a recent market survey, maize is now selling between ₦37,000 and ₦40,000 per 100kg bag. Millet as also dropped, ranging from ₦37,000 to ₦38,000. Sorghum, one of the key staples in local diets, is being sold in different price categories depending on type and quality—some going for ₦26,000 to ₦28,000, others between ₦35,000 and ₦37,000, and
