Story by Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has, on Thursday, flagged off the distribution of 30,000 bags of 10kg rice donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to vulnerable persons across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Speaking during the distribution event, the representative of the Dangote Foundation, Abubakar Mohammed, said the Foundation has been providing humanitarian services for many years touching areas such as health, shelter, education, nutrition, and feeding programmes, among others.

According to him, due to the economic hardship facing the nation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, through the foundation decided to extend support to those in need.

He said, “In collaboration with the Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, the foundation has distributed 30,000 bags of food items to vulnerable individuals in the state.

“This initiative is not limited to Yobe State alone. It extends across all 36 states of Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory which is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the less privileged and the most vulnerable population,” said the representative.

Responding to the gesture, Governor Buni said the distribution of the 30,000 bags of rice (10 kg each) is to support people, particularly the less privileged and vulnerable persons across the state.

He expressed his deepest gratitude to the steadfast partnership of the Aliko Dangote Foundation for their generous donation.

“Over the years, the Foundation has proven to be an invaluable ally, supporting Yobe State not only through humanitarian aid but also via primary healthcare initiatives, such as routine immunisation programmes.

“This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to alleviating hardship among displaced communities and victims of recent fire outbreaks while advancing our administration’s mission to enhance food security,” remarked Governor Buni.
