Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, has empowered 100 journalists with brand-new laptops as part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening media professionalism and capacity.

The laptops were presented at the closing ceremony of a three-day capacity-building workshop held in Kano, jointly organised by the state government and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, mni, Governor Buni emphasized the need for journalists to uphold truth, accuracy, and ethical standards in their reportage. He cautioned against sensationalism and divisive narratives, warning that such practices could threaten the peace and stability Yobe has worked hard to restore.

Highlighting Yobe’s recovery from years of insurgency, Buni noted that accurate journalism plays a crucial role in consolidating peace and driving development.
