Gov Buni appoints Saidu Hassan as Focal Person on drug abuse control
The Yobe State Government has appointed Hon. Saidu Hassan as the new Focal Person on Drug Abuse Control in the state.
Hon. Hassan, who previously served as the Director General of Youth Awareness on Drug Abuse in Yobe state, was given the new role in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fight against substance abuse among youths.
In a statement signed by Baba Malam Wali, FCAN, mni, Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Hassan’s dedication was praised, noting that his past efforts played a vital role in shaping the state’s youth-centered drug control strategies.

Over the years, Hon. Hassan has been instrumental in spearheading grassroots campaigns, awareness programmes, and youth engagement initiatives aimed at curbing the menace of drug abuse in Yobe communities.
His appointment is widely seen as a strategic move by the state government to intensify the fight against drug abuse and safeguard the future of the younger generation.
Reacting to his appointment, Honourable Hassan expressed gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni and the state government for the trust reposed in him.
“I am deeply honoured by this appointment and grateful to His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, for finding me worthy of this responsibility,” he said. “I will continue to give my best and work with all stakeholders to ensure a drug-free Yobe, especially for our youth.”
The newly appointed focal person is expected to coordinate government and community efforts, strengthen preventive measures, and work closely with relevant agencies to address drug-related issues across the state.
