Father arraigned for beating daughter’s boyfriend to death

Police in Ekiti State have arrested a man, identified only as Ibrahim, for the alleged murder of his daughter’s boyfriend.
Ibrahim was arraigned and remanded by the Ekiti State Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Ibrahim is accused of fatally assaulting the young man after he discovered the relationship with his daughter. The incident took place when the deceased visited the girl at her father’s residence near the popular Corpers’ Lodge on New Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti.
The father, who disapproved of their courtship, reportedly mobilized his siblings to beat the young man, who later died from excessive bleeding due to injuries sustained in the attack.

The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, stating, “The girl’s father and two other suspects have been arraigned and remanded in prison.”
