Ebonyi Governor lifts suspension of 81 government officials
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has reinstated 81 government officials who were suspended last month.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, the governor directed the commissioners, senior special assistants, special assistants, and permanent secretaries to “resume official duties immediately.”
The officials had been suspended on July 28, 2025, for failing to attend a crucial government function.

The suspension, which was to last one month, was a “working suspension” without pay. During this time, the officials were also prohibited from signing any official documents.
Among those affected by the initial suspension were the Attorney General, 25 commissioners, 22 permanent secretaries, 14 senior special assistants, and 24 special assistants.
The list of suspended commissioners included those from the Ministries of Works, Finance, Information, Education, and Health, among others.
