Couple, nurse arrested for selling newborn baby

Police in Enugu State have arrested a couple and a nurse for the alleged sale of a one-day-old baby girl.
The suspects, Godwin Enyikpo, 30, and his wife, Ndidi, 25, were taken into custody by detectives from the Emene Division after police received credible intelligence.

Also arrested was a nurse, Ijeoma Oma, 32, who is accused of helping to sell the infant about three weeks ago.
According to police sources, efforts are currently underway to track down other accomplices and to rescue the baby.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has ordered a full investigation to ensure that everyone involved in the crime is brought to justice.
