The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja came alive on the early hours of Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, as Care365 Health Hub officially launched its groundbreaking healthcare innovation.

Themed “Enhancing Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria Through Innovation & Technology”, the event drew some of Nigeria’s most respected leaders, past and present.

Care365, founded by Ngozi Joseph Udumoko, is chaired by former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, GCFR. The Chairman of the Occasion was former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, with former President Goodluck Jonathan also in attendance.

Other dignitaries included Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate; Minister of State for the FCT, Hajiya Mariya Muhammad, representing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike; as well as senior officials from NAFDAC, CBN, ALGON, and the private sector.

In his opening remarks, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo declared that healthcare must no longer be a privilege for the elite but a right for all Nigerians, “365 days a year.” He described Care365’s health hub as a “miniature hospital,” a smart kiosk equipped with artificial intelligence and diagnostic tools, offering affordable care to urban and rural Nigerians alike.

“What struck me most,” Obasanjo said, “is the simplicity, brilliance and practicality of this hub. It can empower community health workers and ensure that even a roadside trader has access to medical care.”
He urged the federal government, banks, and the media to support Care365, describing it as an innovation capable of impacting Nigeria as profoundly as the mobile phone.

For founder Ngozi Udumoko, the launch was the fulfilment of a vision born abroad but rooted in Nigeria’s health challenges. He said the inspiration was “from God” and praised General Abubakar for championing the initiative.

“Our mobile clinics and kiosks are designed to make healthcare accessible to everyone, connecting patients with doctors both locally and globally,” Udumoko said.
General Abubakar, in his goodwill message, recalled being “dragged” into the chairmanship role by Obasanjo but affirmed his deep commitment to the cause.

“As a soldier and as Head of State, I travelled this country and saw firsthand the lack of medical facilities,” he said. “Care365 provides an answer. But launching it is only the beginning—we all need to support it to succeed.”

Abubakar praised Minister Ali Pate’s ongoing reforms, urging Nigerians to rally behind Care365 to ensure it reaches every community.

Minister Pate, who officially unveiled the health hub, described it as a “bold, timely and much-needed innovation” that can help Nigeria leapfrog into a modern, inclusive healthcare era.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding primary health care, unlocking value chains in the health sector, and creating jobs through technology-driven platforms like Care365.

The Care365 health monitoring kiosk, demonstrated at the event, can check for heart disease, diabetes, malaria, hepatitis, cholesterol, and more. It connects patients to doctors via a mobile app and integrates with local hospitals and pharmacies.

Panel discussions with health regulators and private sector leaders emphasised the hub’s potential to strengthen transparency, improve rural access, and reduce the strain on Nigeria’s limited number of doctors.

As mentioned by the panelists, pilot projects in Port Harcourt, Anambra and other parts of the country have already served over 17,000 Nigerians, with partnerships underway with NAFDAC, NDDC, Huawei, and financial institutions.

Goodwill messages came from former President Jonathan, who urged Nigerian innovators to embrace technology-driven solutions, as well as the Federal Government, Armed Forces, banking and private sector.

Closing the event, Dr. Amina Bello, Care365 Clinical Chief, expressed gratitude to all guests and partners, describing the launch as “a step towards a healthier, more inclusive Nigeria.”

The unveiling ended with cultural display, poetry, and photographs of the historic gathering, marking the start of Care365’s journey to transform Nigerian healthcare.
