Boko Haram invades Yobe community, kills police officer’s sons

Residents of Buni Yadi town of Yobe State have expressed fear over worsening security situation, and repeated attacks by rampaging Boko Haram terrorists.

According to reports, Boko Haram terrorists attacked the home of a police inspector, Malam Jibrin, in Buni Yadi town, Gujba Local Government Area, killing his two sons and setting their corpses and the house on fire.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 1: am in the Shuwari Baban Layi area of the town.

Jibrin, who serves as the crime officer at the Buni Yadi police station, managed to escape by scaling the fence of his house.

Enraged by his escape, the insurgents turned on his two sons, aged 25 and 27, slaughtered them, and then set their bodies and the house ablaze.

“They arrived around 1: am and operated uninterrupted until 1:54am. The situation has caused a lot of panic among residents,” the source said.

A local vigilante revealed that the attackers are believed to be operating from the Buk and Talala areas, about 30 kilometres east of Buni Yadi.

“As it is now, nobody dares go up to the Damboa axis. Everybody, including the military, is aware of their presence,” he said.

“It was the same area where they ambushed the military last month and killed an army commandant, along with several soldiers and vigilantes.”

“People can no longer sleep with their eyes closed,” said Muhammad Garba, a resident. “With what is happening on the roads and within the town, nowhere is safe.”
