Atiku Abubakar Foundation awards full scholarships to 3 TeenEagle champions

Story by Susan Mbamah

Three Nigerian students who were named global winners at the 2025 TeenEagle finals have been awarded full educational scholarships by the Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF). This initiative represents a major commitment to female education and youth empowerment.

The scholarship recipients, Nafisa Abdullahi, Rukaiya Mohammed Fema, and Khadija Kashim Kalli, were recognized for their outstanding performance at the international competition. In celebration of their achievement, the AAF has pledged to fund their education from their remaining secondary school years all the way through university.

A letter from the foundation to the students confirmed that the scholarship will cover all educational costs until they complete their university degrees, regardless of the institution they choose to attend.

Founded by Nigeria’s former Vice President, the Atiku Abubakar Foundation consistently focuses on education, with a special emphasis on increasing access for girls and marginalised communities.

“This is more than just a reward for academic achievement,” the foundation stated. “It is a reaffirmation of our belief in the transformative power of education, and a commitment to supporting young Nigerians—especially girls—who are working hard to realise their dreams.”

This scholarship aligns with the foundation’s broader goal of closing educational gaps in Nigeria. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has long advocated for girl-child education as a key strategy for national development.

“When you invest in the education of a girl child, you are invariably investing in the education of a prospective family and community,” Atiku said, reiterating his dedication to the cause.

The TeenEagle Global finals are a renowned academic competition that brings together students from around the world to compete in various intellectual challenges.

The Nigerian team’s victory was celebrated as a national triumph.
Thanks to the Atiku Abubakar Foundation’s support, the three students are now set to continue their academic journeys without financial hurdles, establishing them as role models for young people across the country.
