Atalanta CEO sets condition for Lookman’s exit

Atalanta CEO Antonio Percassi has clarified the club’s stance on Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman’s future, stating that the forward can only leave this summer for a “super top club” outside of Italy. This condition comes amid Lookman’s public request for a transfer.

In a recent social media post, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a quote from Percassi, who said, “The pact with Lookman was made one year ago when we rejected €20m from PSG.” Percassi continued, “We told him: we’ll let you leave in 2025 for a super top club and not in Italy. Now, the situation [with Inter] is different… and as always, it’s us deciding.”

This statement follows Lookman’s transfer request and a strongly worded post on Sunday where he revealed months of “behind-the-scenes frustrations.” The 27-year-old expressed his dedication to the club, saying, “I have given absolutely everything over the past three years at Atalanta.

Not just as a footballer but as a person.” He added, “I’ve always worn the shirt with pride and tried to represent this club and the city of Bergamo with heart, passion and dedication.”

Lookman, a key player in the team’s Europa League victory, stated that he felt compelled to go public after experiencing what he called “broken promises” and “poor treatment” from club management.

He claims they had previously agreed in principle to a possible departure if a fair offer was made.
