Al-Ansar University launches automatic scholarship to cut tuition costs
Story by Auwal Umar, Gombe
In a significant effort to make higher education more affordable, Al-Ansar University in Maiduguri has introduced an Automatic Scholarship Scheme for students applying for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This initiative, approved by the Founder and President of the Al-Ansar Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, provides a partial tuition fee scholarship to all new, qualified students who are self-sponsored.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abubakar Musa, stated in a press release that this scheme reinforces the foundation’s “long-standing commitment to educational access and youth empowerment.”
The scholarship is available to candidates applying through UTME, Direct Entry, or as transfer students from other recognized universities. However, it is important to note that the scholarship does not cover the MBBS program.

To qualify for the scholarship, UTME applicants must have:
A minimum score of 150 on the 2025 exam.
The correct subject combination for their chosen course.
At least five credit passes in their O’ Level exams, including English Language and Mathematics.
Direct Entry candidates need to hold a recognized qualification, such as an NCE, ND, or IJMB, along with five O’ Level credits, including English and Mathematics.
Transfer candidates must have received their original admission through JAMB from 2022 or later and must confidentially submit their official academic transcript to Al-Ansar University. They must also meet the academic and departmental requirements for their chosen program.
The scholarship applies to degree programs in the College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences; the College of Science, Information and Communication Technology; and the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should visit the university’s official website at www.aum.edu.ng to complete the online application and upload all necessary documents. The university has also issued a few important reminders for applicants:
All results must be uploaded through a JAMB-approved CBT Centre to ensure the candidate appears on the JAMB CAPS portal.
Candidates must check their JAMB CAPS profiles and accept any offer of admission within four weeks to avoid the offer being withdrawn.
JAMB has set a final deadline of the end of November 2025 for admission into private universities, and any delays will make it impossible for JAMB to approve the admission.

Al-Ansar University is encouraging all eligible students to seize this chance to pursue their educational goals without the full burden of tuition costs, calling the scheme a “bold step toward transforming lives through inclusive and quality education.”
