ACF reaffirms political neutrality, moves to tackle contradictory public statements by officials

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on Tuesday, October 7 2025, resolved to introduce firm communication guidelines for its officials to prevent contradictory public statements and ensure unity of purpose within the organisation.

Chairman of the BOT, Alhaji Bashir M. Dalhatu, Wazirin Dutse, announced the decision at the Forum’s meeting held at its headquarters in Kaduna.

Dalhatu said the move became necessary following recent instances where some ACF officials made conflicting comments to the press, adding that a draft policy document had been prepared by the Secretariat to regulate communication.

He also announced that preparations were in top gear for the ACF Silver Jubilee scheduled for November 20–22, 2025.

The event will include fundraising for a new national headquarters, the launch of an endowment fund to support social and economic development, and the presentation of books on the Forum’s history and achievements.

Dalhatu reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to political neutrality ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that while individual members are free to belong to political parties of their choice, the ACF remains a non-partisan socio-cultural organisation.

He cautioned against the emergence of parallel northern groups with similar objectives as the ACF, noting that such divisions weaken the region’s collective voice.

He urged those forming splinter associations to return to the ACF fold.

Dalhatu commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their sacrifices in the fight against insurgency and banditry and prayed for the repose of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He also condemned the alleged sabotage of the Dangote Refinery, describing it as an act against Nigeria’s national interest, and called on the Federal Government to act swiftly to protect the nation’s economic assets.

The meeting was attended by members of the BOT, state chapter chairmen and secretaries, and representatives of the Arewa 100% Focus group.
