Father arrested for impregnating 15-year-old daughter in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Oyewole Adamolekun for allegedly engaging in a prolonged incestuous relationship with his 15-year-old biological daughter, which resulted in pregnancy.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Akure, the state capital. He said the suspect, a resident of Taye Village, Lafa 2, Ajue Area, was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Enu-Owa Divisional Police Headquarters in Ondo Town on October 8, 2025, by one Mr. Julius Olusola, a member of the community.

According to Ayanlade, the complainant alleged that the suspect had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter since she was just three years old.

“Acting swiftly on the report, officers of the division arrested the suspect. The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility, where an ultrasound examination confirmed that she was 19 weeks and two days pregnant. During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime,” Ayanlade said.

He added that the suspect is currently in police custody, and the case has been transferred to the command’s Gender Desk Unit for thorough investigation and prosecution.

The state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, strongly condemned the act, describing it as both criminal and morally reprehensible.

Lawal reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse, particularly against minors, and assured that justice would be served swiftly and professionally.

In a separate development, the Nigerian Army has pledged to take swift disciplinary action against a soldier accused of causing the death of a commercial bus driver in Ondo State.

According to Major Njoka Irabor, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 13, 2025, at Akunu, Akoko North-East Local Government Area.
