2 teenagers killed in barbershop armed robbery
Residents of the Cele Nica community in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State are mourning the deaths of two teenagers, Chijindu and Akorede, following a deadly armed robbery at a local barbershop.
The tragic incident took place on Saturday night around 9 p.m. when three armed men stormed Abengo Close, where the barbershop is located. Witnesses reported that the attackers initially posed as customers before seizing the belongings of patrons and opening fire on them.

According to residents, gunshots rang out shortly after the robbers entered the shop. When people rushed to the scene, they discovered the barber and two teenage customers lying in a pool of blood.
One resident, Duuni Olafeso, recounted that the robbers ordered everyone to lie down while collecting cash and phones. The trouble reportedly started when Chijindu told the attackers he had only ₦1,000 for his haircut, which prompted one of the assailants to open fire.

The gunfire struck all three victims. Akorede was killed instantly, while Chijindu and the barber were rushed to the hospital. The barber survived by pretending to be dead. Unfortunately, Chijindu died around midnight despite medical efforts.
His employer, Ugochukwu, described him as a hardworking and responsible apprentice who had only gone out for a haircut after returning from a work trip earlier that day.

Authorities recovered Akorede’s body, and his relatives, who reportedly lived outside the community, were notified of his death. Chijindu was buried on Monday. The atmosphere along Owolabi Street remains sombre, and the barbershop has been closed following the tragedy.
