Renewed Hope Initiative distributes food items to vulnerable groups in Yobe (Pictures)

In an effort to alleviate the raging economic hardship across the state, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), founded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed essential food items to vulnerable groups in Yobe State.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Damaturu on Friday, highlighted a collaborative effort between federal and state governments to support the most susceptible citizens.
The First Lady was represented at the event by the Wife of the Vice President, Her Excellency Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima. The occasion was also attended by the wives of the governors of Yobe and Borno states, alongside other senior government officials and traditional leaders.

In a welcome address delivered on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni, the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, expressed the state’s profound gratitude for the RHI’s intervention.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to its own post-insurgency recovery programme, which prioritises women, children, and other vulnerable persons.
“We commend the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and her representative, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, for their generous and warm-hearted support for the people of Yobe State,” Gubana stated.
During the formal handover, Senator Tinubu, in her remarks, conveyed by her representative, the wife of the vice president, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettama, explained that the donation was part of the RHI’s Food Outreach Scheme under its Social Investment Fund.

The scheme was launched in March 2024 to provide food supplies to persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
She revealed that the overall goal of the RHI is to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by “supporting all Nigerians to strive and achieve their goals, irrespective of their condition or status.”
In her welcome remarks, the wife of the Yobe State Governor and State Coordinator of the RHI, Hajiya Hafsat Mai Mala Buni, noted that the state government had enthusiastically supported the First Lady’s initiative.

She stated that the programme provides significant support to women, children, and vulnerable groups, calling the event a demonstration of the First Lady’s “motherly love and sense of belonging.”
The event concluded with the symbolic flag-off of the distribution of assorted food items to vulnerable groups across the state.
