Troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, acting under Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested two men impersonating police officers in Taraba State.

The arrests were made in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The operation was carried out at Takum Junction in Wukari Local Government Area, following credible intelligence.

At the time of arrest, the suspects were dressed in Mobile Police uniforms.

They were found with two Toyota Hilux vehicles carrying a large quantity of cannabis, 1,134 blocks in total.

Preliminary investigations revealed that neither of the men is a serving police officer.

One suspect has been identified as Monday George, aged 71, a dismissed Assistant Superintendent of Police. The other is 41-year-old Ezeugo Destiny Uche.

While the first Hilux was fully intercepted, occupants of the second vehicle fled the scene on sighting the troops, abandoning their vehicle.

The cannabis haul was traced back to Akure in Ondo State, its point of loading, and was headed towards Adamawa State before interception.

Following the arrest, both suspects and the seized items were handed over to the NDLEA office in Wukari for further investigation and potential prosecution.
