Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Wednesday, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the state’s new Grand Kadi, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, and a member of the Universal Basic Education Board, marking what he described as the opening of a new chapter for the state.
In his address at the inauguration, Governor Buni expressed strong confidence in the new appointees, stating that their expertise makes them valuable assets for quality service delivery to the people of Yobe State.
The newly sworn-in officials include Abba al-Hajj al-Mahmadi as the Grand Kadi, and five Special Advisers: Muhammad Bazam Maidoki, Muhammad Ibrahim Jalloh, Hajia Saratu Sabo, Saleh Budde Shariff, and Kulloma Umara Muhammad.
Governor Buni highlighted Alhaji Mahmadi’s 29 years of meritorious service in the state’s judiciary as the foundation for his appointment.

He described the other appointees as seasoned politicians with strong grassroots connections, appointed to add value to governance and strengthen government-people relations.
The governor also praised Alhaji Dauda Yahaya, sworn in as a Permanent Member of the Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board, describing him as a seasoned technocrat and former Head of Service whose experience is expected to contribute to the state’s foundational education goals.
Regarding the thirteen newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, including Abdu Shaibu and Maidala Valeri Bulalarafa among other permanent secretaries, the governor explained that they were selected based on merit, commitment, and loyalty.
He urged them to uphold due process, be proactive, and inject fresh ideas to ensure efficient service delivery.

Governor Buni assured that his administration would continue to reposition the public service for the effective implementation of government policies.
Linking the appointments to his administration’s agenda, Governor Buni noted that Yobe State has already gained recognition from the Federal Ministry of Education as a role model in foundational education.
He attributed the success to the consistent payment of funds and commitment to programmes like school feeding and the procurement of instructional materials.
“Your new office is a position of trust,” Governor Buni reminded the Grand Kadi and Permanent Secretaries.
“You should be guided by honesty, fairness, and justice to all,” said Governor Buni.
